Just an opinion smidy, the lap times vary on drivers and evos, wrx, gtr or anything slanted are sports cars, quick yes some, supercars, big nope. ps I had a aus rx7 2 seats years ago, practical no, supercar no, and thats before the imports flooded. Point is you can't take these cars for a trip to the country unless you have an overnight bag and not a couple of suitcases. Or 2 backseat drivers... A supercar is more than 2 seats and less than 4 for starters. Any car you'd like to raise with me must have 2 seats no option for 4 Theres some skin.

"super sports car" Oxford list the definition of a super car as "a high-performance sports car". Look at the Veyron...its not so much as a sports car, but Grand tourer when compared to say, a 430 Scuderia, but both are accepted as "supercars". The same can be said with a F40 v's XJ220...both vastly different ways of achieving supercar status...but the GT-R needs "sports" between "super" and "car"? And really, for a Japanese built car, its:
All the things that qualify a Enzo to be Italy's Supercar...

Last year in Las Vegas I had an opportunity to drive a supercar around a racetrack.
There were 6 cars to choose from. Immediately I crossed the Nissan GTR and the Porsche off the list. Leaving a Lambo, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Audi R8. Yes the GTR and Porsche are fast, but they do nothing for me. I don't see them as full on supercars. I think they are just really good sports cars. I ended up in the Lamborghini Gallardo V10. Maybe the GTR is faster, but I don't care. I regret nothing. It's all about personal preference. |

That's interesting, because the not supercar GTR spanks the R8 up and down.

Nope, it's painted blue so it's not a supercar.
It doesn't have electronic lumber support, so it's not a supercar. It's got less than 4 presets on the radio, so it's not a supercar. It hasn't got colour-coded door jams, so it's not a supercar. Shall I be more arbitrary? |

I know it’s getting a bit long in the tooth these days but if I had a Porsche Carrera GT in my garage, I’d happily spend the rest of my life pretending it was practical.

Apparently mid-engine is the definition of supercar... so a Giocattolo Grp B is a supercar, as is a Pontiac Fiero and a MG F
Bad Nissan... BAD!... you should have known that Front Midship was going to lose you an argument on AFF.... damn you practicality!!! Daniel |

I knew that the ute buys would jump on board and be wrapped after my 2 seat opinion but what happened to mx5s or brz...and lets not forget the toyota LFA lovers!! seriously
Porsche will always go down in my book and the carrera GT is anything but a sports car, thats a supercar and the 918 coming a hypocar and yes that was my next point supercars have been rear/mid engined.. I never said I wouldn't love to own a GT-R and never said it wouldn't slam some lambourghini's or Fezza's etc etc but I stick to that it isn't a supercar and I'd place good money that the world media agree

Its pretty straight forward I thought, a Supercar is an exclusive exotic car that gives you reasonable performance with a price tag of 250k plus, and a hypercar is an exclusive exotic car that gives you Hyper Performance for mass price tag.
GTR is a mass produced performance car, with next to no exclusivity because its attainable price tag. A fantastic car it is, a supercar it ain't. This is why that when compared to actual supercars, it is known around the traps as "The Supercar Slayer"

Oh, and for practicality, the Audi R8 would have my vote.

Apparently this isn't a supercar either...
-Cheap, half the price of an Enzo... -Front engine, tisk tisk...
