To say straight up drugs = crime is very harsh. I could say that life = crime if you wanna be padantic. Have you ever sped? Sworn in public? Stopped in a no stopping? These are both crimes that almost everyone does regularly. I dont think you will find anyome who will argue if ice i good or bad simply put it is bad. Should it be legal certainly not... do those on it need help to gwt off it? Certainly... is it that simple? No.

I worked with a few functioning drug addicts in the past, they certainly do exist out there in the wild.

Bloody hard line to walk between helping people in their lives and giving them a chance and also keeping people safe... IMO rules are rules but you need to give people atleast one chance.

i know of a few mates who have been caught up in the whole ICE crap, one could of been racing in AMA Supercross but he got caught up with the wrong crowd and started off on the light drugs but now is onto the ICE, i am unsure if he is still doing it but he still maintains his apprenticeship somehow, i would like to know how he does it.

Isn't it time to accept that it is actually Western drug policy that has led to the creation of drugs like Ice and will inevitably lead to the creation of ever more addictive drugs ?
These are synthetic drugs deliberately invented to destroy lives. The better they are at this, the more money there is to be made. The powerful criminals at the top of the illegal substance food chain prey on a dysfunctional society and have no desire for change. It seems to me that that that is in part the philosophy behind ending prohibition. Even Murdoch's conceding defeat- http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/q...-1227369479605 “In the years since heroin was decriminalised in Portugal, its use has been halved there, while in the United States, where the drug war continues, it has doubled.” . |

But if we legalise it then how do you control it? Dealers will still continue to supply at a cheaper rate than people can get it legally so the problem hasnt gone away as such?
Inject dealers and see how they like it.

thats the only reason the government hasnt legalised weed, they cant make money off it like tobacco products,
Mate uses the occasional drug and he held a steady job, had his life under control, he didnt let the drug take over his life, he is now over in Germany playing music fulltime now, he is pretty switched on, even with the drugs, so i guess it affects everyone differently

When I started smoking cigarettes at 11 years of age I didn't do it because I particularly enjoyed the flavour, or because I thought it was a good thing to do, I did it because it was naughty.
Addiction was a byproduct of my rebellion. |

Cut the head off the snake and punish manufacturers with mandatory sentencing.
It should be up there with murder and perhaps even treason. |

Consistent, properly manufactured product, mininsing the harm of variable manufacture that exists at present. Our politicians are too weak to try something this hard. What we do now doesn't work. Large criminal enterprises only exist becuase of the money it makes.

i maintained my job, never had anytime off not a single day, my life was fully functional, the best it had been, but then i realised after a while that i was very unhealthy and seeing and hearing things so i quit. simple as for me. even now when i look back i do not regret it as it has tought me alot and helped shape to who i am today. but would i reccomend it to anybody??? no.... i was one of the lucky ones... would i help anybody who was going down that road??? in a heartbeat... should it be legal??? no.....
its just funny that more social problems and violent crimes stem from alcohol then anything else yet it is legal.... weed causes less problems than alcohol yet is illegal... go figure..... |

Weed's sole purpose is to 'get off your face'. I can have a few beers and still be sober...

Sorry but that's a ridiculous statement. I know this is getting off topic but you are showing complete ignorance. The effects of pot can range from almost zero to total zombie, no different to alcohol in that regard. |

It staggers me how it's usually the people with absolutely no experience with drugs, first or second hand, and therefore no idea whatsoever, that have the strongest opinions on what should be done to tackle the problem.
It's an incredibly complex problem, and the only thing we know for sure is that the current approach is not working - not even close. In fact the "war on drugs" is making it all a lot worse. And the proof is right there in semi-recent history. Alcohol prohibition in the States is the perfect example of how ineffective this approach is. All it achieved was widespread violence, death, lots of rich gangsters, while cheap, unregulated, unsafe booze flowed free for all. Exactly the same thing is going on with today's illegal drugs. |

Keep the crackheads/methheads in your rear view mirror and you will be ok,spend too much time around scum like that and pow, youre ****** too...
Id rather have no mates than have scum drug addict mates,im not one of those special people who have never tried drugs so I do actually know how the other half live. I think pot should be made available to cancer patients having chemo etc, people who can make good use of it to have a half normal life... all other drugs need to stay illegal because they have no good purpose in everyday life.... |

I was more referring to comments by certain people that betray their ignorance on the subject, which makes their opinion less.... informed, to put it politely. |

Back in my day weed was just something to have a good time on and have a good laugh with. Leaf and tip and maybe a little bit of the heads was all one needed to have a bloody good time, I enjoyed them days, but my mates and I never really got into it much and just grew out of it and I have no intention of smoking it nowadays and there is no way I would touch the rubbish they have around today ever. If I was dying I would want that red and green plant sinsemilla that was a good tasting smoke that you did not cough ya guts out on and it was a nice ride. all the other stuff is just rubbish. Synthetic dope is poison and anything grown under lights makes people schizo and that's a fact. |
