Did you check out the Ford collection in the big shed opposite ?
There was a Mk2 Zephyr ute and sedan in well used condition out the front about 2 years ago. Nostalgia.

Hmm, it wasn't the Maxima that first caught my eye, it was that yellow Monaro hiding around the corner, which is on period correct number plates.

Nice to see old Rangi's two toes (Rangitoto) in the background, what an icon. Haven't been back there in years.

Yes, G&D built the car. Totally different people now to back then..
Wouldn't ring them for the tyre pressure settings now... long story..

Have I got it now? Sadly NO. (my wallet thanks me tho!)

I purchased the car back in the day (2006) 21,000kms on the clock for 85k. From memory the donk alone was around 40ish. Then if you want the 2 pages of 'other stuff' on top of that, it was, and is, and always will be my mostest bestest eva memory of a 'properly quick' (10.3@138mph) outrageously fast, crazy handling (better than my R1's) car. Worst fuel economy I've ever seen... in a GOOD way. Mate, I'm talking green peace defying economy here.

No one can steal those memories..
Love talking to people that tell me they have quick cars.. It just reminds me of so many stories. Only eva got one ticket in 2.5 years in it. Wanna guess what that was for? You only have one guess, then I'll tell ya.

Cheers,

One Mad Man

Laughing out loud at that...

Nah, believe it or not, I was coming back from Melbourne to Adl and didn't keep left, 2 way, 4 lane highway situation, as the left lane was rough as an old cricket ball.

Cop initially tried to do me for speeding (110 in a 100) talked my way out of that, only to be handed a fine for failing to keep left, but wait...the points and $$$ were the same for each offence.

DOGS

Cheers, good guess funny as

Bathroom in a $140/night motel in Coonabarabran...

A pleasant surprise! Sure, the fit and finish might not have been perfect but for the price (cheap) it was very impressive.

Most motels on my travels between Adelaide and Brisbane are closer to $200/night and you can still feel the '70's vibe in most of them.

I remember going through those towns as a kid doing that very drive many times and thinking $65 a night in the 80-90's was expensive. Probably why we looked for places with an on-site van for $40. My ol man was pretty tight with the wallet but didnt want to skimp out on some of the luxuries a bed can offer.
