Arrow Time in Sydney coming to a close... Whats next, Brisbane?

Just an update for those that have been following my progress on the "FPV backpacker tour of Australia 2009" (kinda cool to meet people at car shows that say... oh yeah I've read about your day trips on the forum)

Anyway, today my boss announced that my position has been made redundant here in the posh North Shore of Sydney, LOL Great!

I would be stupid to say it came as a surprise, business has been super slow, and I was a cost rather than a necessity... sad that its two weeks short of my trip to France, so I'll be sitting on my thumb for the next two weeks as I had no travel planned for July... Great again!

But I can't say I regret any of my experience so far here. The job was flexible enough that I got to travel heaps: Cairns, Townsville, Melbourne, Hobart, Gold Coast, Fiji... etc.

I've already gave a week's notice to my landloard to let her know I'm moving out on Monday... no plans yet, but now I got the kick in the *** I needed to seriously start looking for work in Brisbane. ... if that doesn't work, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth... or back to the States.

Fun!

as if I didn't feel like I got kicked in the balls already... my mom called just before midnight last night... with news that grandma died back home in Ukraine.

I spent the entire night searching last minute flights... found one that would get me to the Ukraine in about 30 hours, called my mom again to make sure its okay... and she informed me that the funeral is tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to miss my grandma's funeral!

Life is very sad right now.

Ahhh I see I see. Well I'm sorry to hear about your loss and not being able to attend her funeral. It's always a sad thing.

If your ever down this way again there's a trillion good festivals and locales to check out. Good luck with your job hunt!

I'm fairly open, Dallas.

There's a member on another forum that offered a really attractive weekly rate at his place, but I'm not sure it would be a good idea to commute to the city every day, and the house is too far from public transport.

I am looking close to Brisbane because I would imagine a job would be easier to find in the CBD... although like I said I'm open to anything at this point.

Yeah well i live in Redcliffe and unfortunatly there isnt much public transport except for buses. So it might be abit of a PITA for a commute to the city, its about 20-25 mins in the car.

cruised down to Surfers a few times now in the past two weeks... latest cruise was with Simon on Saturday to Tamborine Mountain... next weekend we're doing Hooters at Mermaid Beach cruise with the Mopar guys (If anyone's interested)

I'm sure it'd be much cooler if I had a car.... public transport sux... train only comes once every half an hour.... bus is no fun, what is supposed to be a 30 minute journey actually takes 45 and thats on an Express.

anyway... if anybody is up to hanging out I'm totally there!

And back to France I go in one month...

I'm sofa king bored with my life here that I could not pass up an opportunity for a flight back to Europe.

Going for three weeks this time so I better get France out of my system, before I follow it up with a quick trip to Malaysia to unwind.... Even my frequent flyer buddies were amazed that I'm willing to sit on the plane for 30 hours flying to Sydney via Singapore... only to catch a flight to Gold Coast the next morning, and be on another plane for 9 hours to fly to Kuala Lumpur... a little overkill... I know... but after all this boredom I thirst for excitement in my life... and since I'm not driving in Australia... flying will have to do... its a hobby that has really grown on me!

So anyway... if there's any Queenslanders that would like to meet up before I get out of here, feel free to post in the QLD forum, there's a few events there that I plan on attending.

I'm curious what will happen next.... maybe Gold Coast would be more fun than Brisbane? Perth.... or Melbourne?

I'm lost....
