2005 Focus: how to turn on hi beam ... and oil filter ?

My friend's mum has a 2005 Focus 2.0 auto; I think it's a base model; my friend says that the owner's manual does not say how to turn the lights onto hi beam ... can someone tell me how it is done?

Also: is the oil filter a 'normal' spin-on (by hand), spin-off filter? Or is it inside a cover that has to be unscrewed first, with the filter then being detached from inside the cover?

(They live in the country, so I can't just go and have a look at it.)
