Smile AU V8 engine problem

Went away for the long weekend as had not taken the AU out for a decent drive for a while and noticed a fan belt slipping noise coming from under the bonnet when accelerating a bit harder than normal.

Whilst making this noise the car appeared to surge and lost power. Once at my destination my mate and I lifted the hood and managed to locate the sound which appears to be coming from somewhere in the air intake near the top of the motor. On the trip I was unable to ovetake as when I tried to accelerate this fan slipping noise would immediately return and the car would lose power again. My guess is that something is a miss with regards to an air intake valve or something like that.

I was just wondering if anyone had come accross this before and if there might be a simple fix for it?

Cheers,

Dan.
