Lets not start a new thread for every funny Google street view pic.

Evidence of illegal activity eg: burnouts is against the site T&C and will be removed.

i just noticed most people are accessing this through google maps. I downloaded the latest version of google earth as i presumed that's where people meant it was. So just to let you know, it's a feature of the new google earth as well.

EDIT: as title suggests ;)

I was doing a changeover with a mate in Tintinara SA and the Google car came along and did a bit of driving around. I asked him what he was up to and he said that he was taking photos for a new Google Application. Now i know what he was up to..
Now that i look at where we were, neither me nor my changeover driver are in the photos.

Mine place doesn't come up ... they stopped about 200m either side of my place though .. weird. You still wouldn't see my house from the road anyway ... it is set that far back.

Yeah I originally went straight to Google Earth when I found it was out, but I find it smoother to use on Google maps. : Might be time to update Google Earth.

Default Google maps street view, is unreal.

Has anyone had a good look on google/maps at the street view section, it brings up a full on pic as if your standing in front of the address, you can look up and down and do a full 360 rotate at it, its pretty unreal, got me wondering about how they did it, i can only assume the photo's were taking from satelite, cause there's outback address's and all.

Over about 5 years I recall Google they had vehicles driving every single road, street, highway in Australia with a camera system viewing left, right and an effective sky view.

The next lot I'd expect to be HD quality.

Each scene you look at has a 'privacy link' if your concerned about detail. Number plates seem to be airbrushed, people generally, ditto.

Makes it a bit easier for crims to 'see' a property.

yeah there was a couple of cars going around with the camera setups on their roofs. in some pictures you can catch a glimpse of the other car. Also some pretty close calls with girls lifting their shirts up but not quickly enough...

in any case, this is old news and there is other threads about this...

This is a bit like Deja Vu I am sure. Wasn't there already a thread about this whole street view thing?

Anyways, yes the street view is particularly great when you need to go into areas you are unsure of. Helps with working out landmarks prior to the actual spot you wish to be

Mind you, if I would just simply remember to put the GPS unit into the car each time I wouldn't have to bother looking things up prior to going wherever it is

You can download a program called 'Google Earth'. I've had it on the desktop for a while now. It's great fun looking up things like the Statue of Liberty and the Taj Mahal.

Yep, there was a street view thread at the start of the year.

Does anybody want to start a thread about the "New XE Falcon"?
