Default AMEP have sacked the Victorian arm of the party.

Interesting times ahead. It didn’t take long for a power struggle to erupt.

The videos of Ricky Muir fighting with dung and his tweets were a bad enough first impression of the party already, now this.

Not talking is the new norm. The conservatives have taken to that with gusto, so why shouldn't Ricky.

- Budget emergency - nothing to see here.
- Boat people - what boat people? Need to know basis. I do sense a ship out there though?
- Science - not on god's earth.

Good politics, apparently!

Seriously, anyone that votes for these fringe mobs without knowing how they actually operate are fools.

Agreed, it is quite a circus that party.
No one has heard from Ricky since September.
I am glad I didn't vote for this joke.

The issue here is they appear to think it is a bit of fun, but the issue is being a senator he has a responsibility to vote on important legislation effecting the future of this country, I am sorry I couldn't trust this guy with this responsibility.

Well I just heard Keith Littler being interviewed on the radio.
disgraceful was the only way I could describe it.
He had no tact and exposed how poorly organised this group is, I wonder how serious they really are taking this important role.

This Littler guy sounds like an absolute asshat. I'm sure most people are willing to cut him and the party some slack for not being seasoned political operatives but he was actually antagonistic towards Jon Faine.

And where is Ricky Muir??? Media training boot camp? Rehab? Taken by an evil pack Kangaroos?

If the last few years in politics has taught us anything, Parliament is not a place for people who want to avoid the spotlight.

Ricky Muir is going to be a part of a group of 8 Senators who hold the balance of power in this country and influence how the whole country is run. I'm sure they are as surprised as we are they got in, but they are there now.

The fact is Ricky, Keith and the AMEP CHOSE to represent us in a public forum, asked for our vote, got enough to get in and have since gone to ground.

Thats not good enough.

Or tell the AMEP to sod off and stand as an independent.
Which would reveal where the issues in that party really lie.

You can't do that as it's a Senate seat, so it's allocated to a party not an individual. Ricky can resign, but the party (AMEP) the has to put forward another candidate.

Whats the betting Keith Littler trys to move to Victoria?

I could be wrong about this, but my understanding of the Constitution is that the AMEP cannot sack Ricky Muir as a senator. They could choose to disendorse him, but that would be a pointless strategy on their part because he would still serve the remainder of his 6 year term, but as an independent. If the senate position was to become vacant through Muir resigning, then he would be replaced by a member of the same party.

My analysis is that the Queensland executive are attempting to exert greater control and power over their newly elected Victorian senator. The strategy would be to surround Muir with people from the Queensland branch or 'mates' of the Queensland branch such that Muir becomes a puppet controlled by the party executive or chooses to resign, which would clear the path for the position to be filled by Littler.

I was under the impression he could quit the party, but retain the seat because the votes went to him (not the other bloke on the ballot for amep in Victoria), cheers for the clarification.
