Focus is volume limited out of Europe - this is reported to be fixed when it starts supply from Thailand later this year.
Ranger is struggling to recover from the Thailand floods, but this again is reported to be fixed later this year. Then add the new Kuga and New Mondeo, whenever they are released and it would appear the writing is on the wall for Falcon and Territory, but only because the imported products are just so good. Falcon and Territory still offer great value, but if you want the new technology and "European Styling", then it seems imports are leading the way. Will be interesting to see where the remainder of the year takes us !! |

Falcon and Terri are clearly NOT Ford's best sellers any more. Fiesta is within ~200 of Falcon, Focus sells more, as does Ranger. With increased availability of Ranger and Focus stock as Thai production comes on line, I for one don't see that changing in a hurry... |

The cost of build cars (design, engineering, etc) costs money, a lot of it. It has to come from somewhere and if the sales aren't covering the costs of the R&D then really what is the point? These are not specialty cars they are bread and butter.

DASH GT,
fair point. So they may need to drop the Geelong petrol I6 and import the EcoBoost 3.5L for the Falcon. I can stomach that. |

bugger me some of you guys think rome was built in a day, it was`nt long ago the 4 cylinder was released falcon was released, the terri`s picking up steam with the diesel, the FG upgrade happened not long ago, talk about a pack of defeatist.
edit: if anything is not viable it would seem it`s the mondeo. |

SZ Terrirtory was launched in June 2011, but after averaging about 1500 is now in decline May 2011 -- 480 Jun 2011 -- 1634 Jul 2011 -- 1445 Aug 2011 -- 1625 Sep 2011 -- 1395 Oct 2011 -- 1230 Nov 2011 -- 1776 Dec 2011 -- 1349 Jan 2012 -- 804 Feb 2012 -- 1400 Mar 2012 -- 1335 Apr 2012 -- 1076 FG II was launched in November I think. There has been no increase in volume based on FGII so far - LPI has shown no benefit. Fingers crossed on EcoBoost, but volumes are only going in 1 direction. 5 door hatch or wagon - partical usage Better styling - in my opinion Dual clutch Auto - better economy Diesel with dual clutch - even better economy Global Open / Global close windows, with one shot up & down Keyless entry / keyless start Adaptive Cruise Control Lane Departure Warning Blindspot indication and that is the current model - just wait for the new model and then compare. As stated FGII Falcon is good value, it is an older technology platform and therefore it depends what is important to the customer and they will choose. |

diesel for short trips in the city as a daily, there where some question marks about suitability. towing capacity for the mondy? styling is an individual thing , if we are making it emotionless it does`nt count, i`d have the falcon anyway, it`s a good daily and servicing is straight forward, driveline is bullet proof and the correct wheels drive the car ;). |

For Ford to stay relevant in this country the contribution margin of the product must be the best they can get.
Obviously not many people are buying Falcon and Territory and either buying a Ford import or going elsewhere. Guess what will get the cut first?

So wait on, Ford axe the Fairlane due to only selling 100-200 a month, but continue to pump the kuga and escape which sell less combined than the Fairlane and LTD did, even in their bad years?????

Remember that although Australia on sells 60 per month ,the manufacturing plant builds more than combined Falcon and Territory, so the manufacturing site is viable and the investment in tooling can be recovered. Fairlane and LTD were ONLY sold to Australia and New Zealand at extremely low volumes, hence the investment in tooling was non-viable. |

Nobody can justify building a mass market car that only sells 1000 per month (and probably falling) in only one market. When, in turn that market barely registers on a world scale. The Iranian new car market is bigger than the Aussie market.

2.5k from the falcon/territory platform isn't terrible I guess.
