Lake Illawarra Cops & Community Car/Bike Show 08
26th October, 2008 Kembla Grange Racecourse The Lake Illawarra Cops and Community Car/Bike Show 2008 is well into the organisation phase and is set for Sunday the 26th of October, at the Kembla Grange Race Course. This will be the second year the car show has been run, the 2007 Cops and Community Road Safety Awareness Car Show proved to be a success with in excess of 150 vehicles entered in the show and more than 2000 spectators attending on the day. The Cops and Community Car Show 2007 also exceeded its fund-raising aims and as a result of the generous support offered by numerous local and non local businesses the Lake Illawarra Local Area Command was able to present a cheque to the Children's Ward at Wollongong Hospital to the value of $5560. The show again is being directed at younger drivers with the aim being to educate and encourage these drivers in road safety awareness, correct driver attitudes and appropriate behaviours whilst using the road network. There are numerous road safety advocates attending who will be promoting some aspect of road safety and deliver a message in their field of expertise and provide alternatives to things like illegal street racing, vehicle modifications, etc. Entry will be a gold coin donation with all money raised on the day being donated to Headway Illawarra. Headway Illawarra provides a wide range of support and advocacy services which are specially designed to improve health outcomes and quality of life for people living with an Acquired Brain Injury. 75% of cases of acquired Brain Injuries are caused as a result of road trauma incidents. This years car show will include displays from the Police Rescue, Airwing, Highway Patrol, Ambulance, Fire Brigade, SES, RTA and numerous car clubs and business. Any enquires in relation to the Car Show can be forward to either : Ben WALSH (02) 42952684 0407061050 Kristy AVNELL (02) 42629407 0421789600 Apparently it was a really good show last year and well organised. Be good if we can get a few to go down and represent the club. I am not sure if it clashes with anything. I think you can register on the day but I will post the flyer later. Cheers The DR |
