Default 0.000 Reaction Time Win Wsid11/7/07!!

Guys.I did not even know there was a prize for this.I picked up 960 dollars last Wednesday from wsid.I am still amazed by the win. I was out with ruger masterg big al and quite afew of the other guys. They ran up to me with a big smile..I thoight I had run over a nasty holden driver or something like that.

There is a prize for people who want to run there cars and simply get the quickest reaction time. It had not gone off for about 4 weeks.Just sinking in now after spending some of the cash :

How can you have a 0.000 reaction time? Would this not bend the space time continuum?

You do not leave when you see the green light, you time it that when you see possibly the last amber light you go for it, depending on how quick you react and how good your car reacts it is possible to leave at exactly the same time as light light goes green, basically a perfect reaction, many races are won by having a better reaction time than the opposition.

Just think if you have a 4 tenths quicker reaction time at the start, it may not mean much from the start, but 4 tenths of a second at say 120 mph can be quite some distance. a slower et car can often beat a quicker car by getting a better reaction time.

Well done stav

Yes it is pre empt(?spelling), not possible to actually react to the green that quick, I think Merlin was being silly anyway...

When you think about it Its really an "anticipation" time not so much a "reaction" time if you're deliberatly leaving on the last amber.. I know that you're breaking the beam on the green, and i realise its the only way to "cut a perfect light" but its not really a true measurement of reaction...
I wonder what reaction times are possible if there werent amber lights to work with!
Isnt less than 0.400 deemed anticipation rather than reaction?

By the way, good effort!

The 0.400 rule was what was used for a long time as the lights come on 0.400 sec apart, but it was based from the last amber, so a .400 was actually breaking the start beams as the green light came on, anything under was infact breaking the beam before the green light went on.

A 0.000 would be equivalent to an old skool 0.400

Yeah, it jackpots every week in WA and if it does not go off for a while it gets very crowded. You can win it with an electric Prius, as long as you move at the right time.
Have seen it go off about 4 times now. Once it was up to a K and the crowd was massive.. The second or fourth car down the track pulled it off, then half of the carolla's went home

If you leave on the second yellow, you actually go before you went, and on the rare occasion at the same time as the green--0.00

A mate mentioned he goes when the first yellow light goes out and he has had best reaction time a WSID many a time, I started doing the same and now manage .100/.150 light most of the time but as most would know there aint much room for error for example when I race Cam290 at the FF meet I went .05 into the red. Theres a real fine line, even harder in a manual.

I wish the BF reacted the same as the BA use to. The Bf is slower when you jump on it. (go figure) :

Good work Stav. Its not easy to pull a perfect light. Just think how many people try and don't come anywhere near it.

Man thats awesome with those Zen like reflexes and luck you might even be able to make an EA go fast. Makes you think though if your car was just that little quicker you would have flunked it.

Enjoy the cash anyway, thats an achieveement

good effort mate , well done.
was it a 0.00 reaction or 0.40 reaction time that most tracks use as the perfect time ? not having a go at you or anything, just curious because i thought if you went below 0.4 you red lighted.

i was at the local track here on saturday and early in the night ( i think the second or third pairing ) a guy got 0.4 and took the prize for light of the night.

later the same night there were 2 tuff cortinas racing, only something like 0.02 second difference in dial-in time and they both got a green "win" light at the end. the timers could not split them, less than 0.001 between them at the finish line.
that was the first time i have ever seen that happen.
