On Sunday the XR Club was invited to the MTAQ Cannonball day, and it was at this event that I decided to give my car a go down the quarter mile!
I was so nervous as I had never done this before and was worried that I was going to stall it, or do something stupid. But I lined up, waited & came up against a Senator. Which kicked my ****.. heheh …and I did a 16.3, considering that was my very first time & the nerves, I don’t think it was all that bad. I had so much fun I decided to give it another shot, coming up against a V8 Brock Commodore. On this run, I beat him and ran a 16.01. So, I was hooked, going around for another time, at which I came up against the Brock Commodore again, which I beat him, again, and got 15.79 . As we were only able to have 3 test runs, that was it for me, I went & had a bite to eat & eagerly waited for the afternoon’s races to come around. As my times were all over the place, I decided to put my dial in time as 15.7, thinking that I couldn’t do any better than that, surely. Firstly I came up against an Escort, his dial in time was 15.5. It was a good race, and I won it, doing a 15.9. Next race I came against a AU XR8 with a dial in time of 15.05. I REALLY wanted to win this race… which I did, but I broke out, with a time of 15.51 I was stoked at the time, but annoyed that I broke out. So that was my racing over for the day, but I must say, that I’m really quite looking forward to my next drag day/night!!!! Hopefully I can improve my times, I seem to be getting gradually better with each run Here's some pics of my third run.

Good effort Kristy !! It shows you don't need a 10 second car to have fun. Damned good times from a stock N/A XR6 too !!

Fantastic for your first time out. Its allways nice to get quicker and quicker as the night goes on. My 1st run ever is my quickest to date :( The bug has bitten. Be prepaired to become broke very very quickly.

Good on you.
It is great fun indeed. Once the bug has bitten your in trouble. You will always want to go that little bit quicker. I found out very quickly that it is a totaly different world in the drag racing world. They talk 100 th's of seconds. I thought that was just insane and it probably is. I wanted seconds or half a second enen what thell hell in a 100th. But now i know different. lol Good luck with it all in the future Cheers.....Kev

Another victim of the addiction. Now the "pretty" mods give way to the "performance" mods and things get a hell of a lot more expensive. All for a 10th or 2....seriously insane stuff...but I love it.

Very well done Kristy!
When I first heard of your time I thought it was a great effort not only for 1st time out but for the I6 too....XR8's were doing that not too many years ago. Surely gets addictive too....as long as things dont go bang or $$ run out! |

Hi Kristy
Good to see another chic at the drags! And another chic in a BA NA XR6 manual!!! I raced mine for the first time at Heathcote back in November last year and I was terrified! It took 2 hours for everyone to convince me to have a go, since I came all the way from Adelaide. I went down the strip the first time as a passenger while Eamon drove and then I went down the next run with me driving and him as a passenger. Got 15.4 for my first ever run with a passenger so I was reasonably happy with that. My car also had a full tank of fuel and the air con was left on...hehe I got a lot more practice over the night and my best time with me driving was 14.98. However, I didnt get the best time in my car - Shane and Aaron did. They both got flat 14.8s - Shane on his 3rd go and Aaron on his first attempt and he doesnt even drive manual! It is awesome fun and once I started I just kept going all night, run after run and I was addicted, as Casper said! And with the drag racing addiction came the mod addiction!!!! With more to come! Hope to race it again in a few months and I would like to get a better personal time in my car and I also hope that someone else can race it and get a better time for the car too. I cant wait to race it again, it is just the best fun and I would like to see a lot more chics out there racing their cars! And gotta love the manuals! Not as fast maybe, but sooo much fun! Cheers Jac

Hello Jac,
I like your car and can relate to the whole Falcon six thing, I have a soft spot for them. My last 2 cars were a EL and AU XR6 manual, before that a ED XR8 auto, they're bullet proof aren't they? I eventually put a 9lb CAPA S/C kit on the AU, it produced 195rwkw. I didn't get it to the drags but comparing it with my present XR8 I'd say it was good for a 13.5 or so. There's so much more potential in yours, seeing how well JMM E series 6's are going. Keep up the great work and make it fun!
