I have spoke to a few and one of my fellow workers used to be one...
All they do is take the leg work and haggling out of finding a car. They tell you where and how much and you go take a look at it then decide to buy or not and then take their cut... simple really... Cheers Ben

I have just bought my XR6T through a broker and i did the same with my AU before that. Generally the broker will check out the wholesalers and see what he can find then contact you and either get you to come have a look with him or bring the car to you. A good broker will also organise things like RACV checks and anything else that you require (factory alarm upgrade on my T for example). By buying from the broker who gets the vehicle from the wholesaler you save paying the mark up that a dealer will add (this is where they get there cars) which in my case ended up with me getting an optioned up 03 XR6T for just of $31k as opposed to around $34-$34k that would bring the same example through a dealer. My broker also takes his fee/commision from the wholesaler for finding a buyer as opposed to adding his commision on top of my purchase price. If you were in Melbourne I could pass on some details for ya but they dont have an office in Sydney unfortunately.
