Hey all,
Looking for feedback from people under 25 with a v8/turbo ... Anybody have comp insureance approved? or any companies that allow under 25's to drive a v8 with a over 25 year old main driver? Any feedback would be great!

not sure what companies allow it, but best bet would be to get the main driver to ring his insurance company and get you added as a "sometimes" driver or whatever it is.
Would be worth ringing a few up too and getting different quotes as they may want to sting you.

i'm 22, got an FPV GT with an agreed value of $38,000 and I got full comp through NRMA with a premium of $1100, basic exess of $800 and age excess of $200, which I didnt think was to bad for my age.
Seeing that GIO wanted $1600 for my EL and would even touch me with the GT.

I'm 24, with a EL Ghia V8. Insured with Shannons for the last 2 years. All mods listed (cam, exhaust, manual, bodykit, sunroof etc). No At fault claims, a few speeding fines. $972 for $10k agreed value.
Because I am under 25, I basically had to prove that I was an 'enthusiast' before they would even complete the quote. |

It depends on the car. I asked why my v8 calais was cheaper to insure then an ss of the same year. I was told less claims are made on a calais. The ss even though the same engine and power wise was dearer because of the history associated with the model. Just car are pretty lenient with v8's for young people.

20 y/o, and RAA wouldn’t insure me for my new GS. They put me on to another department who quoted me $7500!! Justcars did it for $2000, and you can adjust the excess too.
I didn’t try Shannons though, a mate said they are hard to get insurance with?
