Talking Need for speed Pro Street

hey guys, anyone getting this, i know i am after playing demo this morning , the demo it out its 895mb demo with 2 tracks, circuit and speed thing, i raced both the features, the game is more powerfull hungry computer wise, u need 2.8gb pentium 4 to run it enought i ran the demo with no problem though it did take a while, ( should've updated my cpu lately : : ) anyway i raced the gtr that car quick, plus the game has real car damage, this will hopefully be the best nfs hopefully, all my fav cars will be in it.

I've played every NFS, always good for a laugh and ProStreet looks like it should be some good fun too. Very disappointed with the lack of LAN play from the recent ones though.

Yeh watched multiple videos for this game and looks like they've made the most realistic looking burnout yet, which for me is very important.
The cg work looks mind blowing, ive also played and clocked every need for speed since release including the poor as re-release of need for speed hot pursuit last year which was a very sad game LoL.
Looking forward to this one though...

In what way? I know for a fact that LAN play in 'Most Wanted' works a dream. We didn't try 'Carbon', just didn't get around to it. The first 'Underground' fell over somewhat on LAN play from memory, but didn't try the second one across a LAN.

Yeah, if I recall correctly the original Underground would have players just drop out at random halfway through races - the netcode sucked harder than a hoover.

I believe it was fixed somewhat in Underground 2, but never really played it that much due to the "unrealism" of it all.

The game is visually awesome but it is very crappy to play. I am doing testing right now and I say it is the worst of the recent NFS titles. The damage is too fake, the handling of the cars is neither realistic nor NFS right; just a downright cockup.

I agree the smoke is awesome, but thats really it, the cars seem really weird on handling. It does not feel like the typical NFS handling nor does it feel like realistic handeling. Its like a half way which feels terrible. Im sticking with my test drive and PGR4.

I got over Need For Speed many years ago, I think Hot Pursuit 2 was like the last one I fully enjoyed.

When I race cars in games, I prefer realism, I used to find in underground you could just hold the accelerator, hit the corner wall and let the wall guide you while you just accelerated, no skill required. I prefer the games where you hit a wall at over 60 k/hr then its race over for you. I hate the way you can bounce off a wall at 200km/h without even a scratch, doesn't feel right to play.

This is why these days I stick with games like GTR2, and Test Drive Unlimited. I realise TDU doesn't have a damage model for the player's cars, however it still feels more realistic to drive than any NFS game I've played over the past few years.

Plus NFS kinda lost me with Underground when it became all about Rice. I still have my legit copy of Hot Pursuit 2 sitting in front of me, the CD cover has a HSV GTS, and the most heavenly of the AU's a Tickford TS50! I might have to install and play it again, its been far too long!

Tried the PC version of the demo and it was possibly the absolute worst feeling racing game I have ever tried. Sat in a BMW, tried to control it for about 20 seconds and promptly uninstalled. The feeling of control was absolutely horrible. I'm sure the ricer crowd will love it though.

There was no LAN play in Underground 1/2 or Carbon you have to connect to EA.

You could get an emulator for Underground but I don't think anyone bothered to finish the Carbon one.

What the apparent problem with the handling? So it's not old school NFS style that's not really a bad thing. Then again I liked the NFS and Colin Mcrea Rally.

Yeh I heard the ProStreet isnt that good. Juiced 2 isnt looking any better either. Personally, Im over Need For Speed. Most Wanted & Carbon are both anti-climatic.

Now... I cant wait for GT5 Prologue and GT5.

Agreed - NFS just keeps on pumping out crap, which is no surprise considering how long the games take to make (didn't carbon come out this time last year?). They should leave racing in the hand of the experts - Polyphony (albeit who take ridiculous times to complete making the games, but the end product makes it all worthwhile). Actually, in my mind I have almost no need to buy a new console until THE masterpiece comes out. NFS is just too basic - you can learn how to play it in about 30 mins. A real racer takes just as long as it takes to learn to drive a car.

I have had few of the NFS titles in recent years, and they're a bit of fun, but they really dont compare to NFS Porsche Unleashed/2000/Challenge/whatever else they called it. I just really enjoyed it. Sadly, I no longer have a copy. If anyone in brisbane has a copy for PC in decent condition they're willing to sell, PM me :P

I bought this on PS2 and it lasted all of 10 minutes. I hated it. The graphics were ordinary and it was packed full of advertising like i had read about. I hated the lack of being able to configure the controls. I ended up returning it and getting a copy of Simpsons: Hit and run, instead. Maybe on PC it's better ?

I'm probably the minority, but I think it's the best NFS since....well Porsche: Unleashed.

I got tired of the Hollywood-ish, and Fast & the Furious theme from recent years. Sure it was fun, but IMO the novelty wore off very quick. In recent years I feel that games like UG, UG2, MW and Carbon concerntrated on cinematics, rather than the racing. Seriously I want to race, and beat people. I don"t about the story. That's what RPGs are for. Not racing games.

It's nice to see proper race tracks, and a proper drag strip (Infineon). Which I think is a first for NFS.
