Default Inguinal Hernia

Consulting with a chap named Mr Paul Ah-Tye in a fortnight about a hernia the GP suggests needs attention. Probably surgical repair. Although the thing is quite symptom free except for the lump in the groin when standing.

Anyone had such a procedure? How did it go regards recovery time and post-op complications, if any?

And if the named surgeon did a repair for you, were you happy with the repair and post operatively?

Feel free to PM me if your comments are at all critical, I promise I have no contact with this chap yet and any comments go no further than me.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

I had a Hernia done many moons ago, it's no big deal.

Just make sure you have a grab handle over the Horspiddle bed and don't laugh or cough for a week or so.

As above, I had keyhole the first time in my 20's, up for my second one and not looking forward to it as they cant do keyhole this time, turns out the mesh is not permanent, so I have the same problem but its a bit worse this time.

The hardest part was going to the toilet before they let you leave post op, you don't realise how many muscles it takes to have a dump till then.

Had the same, key hole surgery and bit sore for a few days then back to work in 3 weeks.
It will depend on what type of work you do to determine return to work date.
Cheers

I've had surgery for a hiatal hernia, 2 inguinal hernia and one umbilical hernias (what happens when you lift too many heavy diffs and gearboxes under cars before I had my scissor lift; mostly from one incident juggling/ dropping and catching again several times a diff under the NC Fairlane and I felt them tear). All went well with the surgery.

I have reported it for you noting the law firm referenced is also USA based. To report you click on the little warning triangle containing an explanation mark that appears in the bottom left hand corner of every post.

I had my inguinal hernia done last July. Keyhole surgery, no dramas. Only took strong pain killers for 1-2 days then panadol for the next week. Sat on my **** for a couple weeks doing bugger all. Rule of thumb is can't lift 6kg for 6 weeks. My job is pretty physical so I went back to light duties after 6 weeks, another 2 months before I was confident to work/lift stuff as normal.
