Default road rage

was watching dashcam on Ytube, what a depressing demorilising channel. So many sicko arrogant 'people???' out there.
But it got me thinking..... dangerous I know.... whats the cause(s)

overseas drivers who dont understand our rules
sheer arrogance
the number of male ute drivers.... this then got me thinking again...
and Ive come to some crazy thinking

is it stress of work/ family life/ what we drink.
Ive nothing to back this up but the amopunt of coffee that we consume and the hguge amount of BUZZ energy drinks... all that cafine and what other crap they add. 6 months ago I tried a mouthful of Mothers brand holey moley that about blew my head off .
Now if average Frank consumes 2 cans of this STUFF a day whats it doing to his brain, heart and belly?

A chemist told me if you drink enough of those energy drinks in one day it can kill you.

Years ago, when Red Bull was unknown, a new Mini with a gigantic can mounted on the roof, driven by 2 nice young ladies wearing bikini top and tight shorts, pulled up outside our workplace at lunchtime, offering free cans of Red Bull.
Never let a chance go by, so we all tried a can. I wandered off and disposed of the last half of mine. First and last time. Tasted like burnt, bitter coffee and Coke. Yuk.
But all the young'uns love it.

Everyone is angry at everything. I haven't drank energy drinks for a couple of years and I barely even have coffee, and I'm pretty aggressive on the road. So your theory probably doesn't hold up.

The days I skip gym are when I'm the most irritable. I think the tiredness acts a bit like a few drinks, where it dulls the feeling that the world is cruel, unfair, run by idiots, and has been set up in a way that you can't do anything about it. In saying that, I have a very enviable life, I can only imagine the emotions of some of these people on struggle street with no way out. I'm not surprised when it only takes one rude or inconsiderate action against them to snap.
The world is getting worse by the day for us average Joe's too, so get used to seeing more violence. Be thankful you don't live in a country where every second person has a gun on them.

The reason for road rage = "I'm in a hurry, get out of my way" or "I'm a Sunday driver FU".
Plenty of self-entitled drivers on our roads these days that have no regards to road laws, so I would say arrogance fits the description for road rage.

One thing that I struggle with is that these people seem to be in some great hurry, and get ****ed with people who slow them up. But then they stop and get out of their car and do road rage things.

The media, wedging into cracks of human weakness. Team play is disparaged while solo efforts are lauded. So it’s natural for short thinkers to aspirationally make the story all about them.

One thing I’ve noticed lately is raging tradies first thing in the morning. You’d expect that in the afternoon when they are fatigued. But aggro in the morning now is where we are at.

Why was alcohol left off the list of drinks by the OP? I think that still trumps coffee and energy drinks by some margin.

Most issues in the world can be traced back to selfishness.

6 months ago I stopped doing shift work and now drive in traffic morning and afternoon for my work commute. I quickly learned that travel time is what it is so just pick a lane and cruise to work or home. I don't glue myself to the car in front. I let people in from side streets etc. I leave plenty of gap in front. I get to work or home much more relaxed.

I look around and everyone else seems to always be in a hurry. I call them 'hurry up and stop' drivers. As soon as the car in front moves, they're on it, then on the brakes 2 seconds later... Can't seem to lift their eyes and see beyond the windscreen. Rather amusing really.

Another theory of mine is that the a large percentage of people just suck at maths. So many are convinced that getting stuck behind a slower car, or at a set of traffic lights for eg, is costing them large chunks of time when in reality it can be measured in seconds.

Where I work, I now work dayshift 6 to 2, what I find amusing the guys who knock off at 2, once they get in their cars it is a race from car park onto the road, and off they go. I never seen this before and it's got me stuffed why the rush, can't be bothered to ask as I know I'm going to get some stupid answer.
Like you I just take my time being relaxed and knowing most of them are just beating me by a few more minutes getting home.

I find it amusing the amount of dashcamers who wind up in an accident while they talk on their car phone.
Tells me a lot about spacial awareness.
You only need to walk down a busy city footpath to see this.

Some drivers need to snap out of being totally distracted, while floating along in their wheeled lounge room and concentrate on the job at hand, driving the vehicle.

IMPO I still consider one of the worst automotive invention is cruise control.

Can I ask why?

I don't drive my car without using cruise or the speed limiter, depending on traffic conditions. It means I can focus more on driving with one less thing to worry about.

Driving the truck and looking down through the passenger window as they pass I notice drivers taking their right foot well away from both (auto) pedals, I know it can be only a split second for some to to find the brake again but sometimes a split second is all it takes between life and death.

I've spotted some drivers with their right foot up against the rocker/door panel.

Back in the day we were taught to drive autos heel/toe, so simply pivoting the heel straight back onto the brake in an instant makes total sense.

I would imagine in a few road accidents at highway speeds some drivers are so relaxed, that at a sudden emergency brake application the possibility of completely missing the brake pedal happens.
I guess that's why automated braking has been a recent fixture for modern cars.

I don't think it matters which foot hits the brake pedal for road vehicles, only time I use the left foot is when I'm driving the forklift (inching/brake pedal)
Cheers

Agree, people sure can develop bad driving habits, such examples as one hand on wheel, not concentrating visually on the road by glancing at other distractions such as phones ect.

Active cruise control driver sets a distance to next car say six car lengths speed say 110 when the car in front is only at 105 your car automatically slows to 105 and keeps the six car lengths space

Normal cruise control. Set it at 110. Look at Facebook for three seconds your car rear ends car in front.

Some active cruise control brake the car to stop and then move it on back to set speed when traffic moves and picks up speed

One of the main things I drummed in to my daughter when teaching her to drive was to have patience.

Patience will go a long way to keeping you alive on the road.

If something makes you angry, drowsy, whatever - addressing that in your motoring choices is surely part of “driving to the conditions”. I have no time for people blaming chemicals when the real problem is their lack of responsibility.

Ute drivers are real kents on the road sometimes. Cutting corners, not giving way because "mine's bigger" etc.
