Today i was driving along and my stereo turned and a warning message come up on the dash board saying engine fault/failure and the powertrain light come on had to pull over and turn car off at no stage during this time did the engine management light come on... hopefully someone can shread some light on where to start..thankyou.

Start by check the battery terminals and cables are in good condition with the term inals clean and tightly connected at the battery and battery to earth cable earthing points. Then check your fusible links.

Hey Mick, did you ever narrow down the problem? Doubt you still read this, but gonna try anyway.
I also have a 2008 XR4, the dashboard lit up like a xmas tree and the power to engine cut out in the middle of the road. After charging battery, it still only have 12V whilst moving, so assuming alternator. You post has made me think something else is causing the alternator issue... Any info appreciated! |
