Default Dealer VIP night

Got an invite to my dealers's VIP night by mail and lastly a phone call. Advised the caller that I wouldn't be attending as I'm not interested as the current Ford range as it has nothing that suits and I'm not interested in a ute based platform or a transit van. (Also I don't want to buy at present).

He asked if the Everest might appeal given my previous purchase was an Escape. I advised it was too big and also ute based. He then suggested the Mustang EV and I replied it was outside my price range. He commented that quite a few customers had voiced similar remarks on the lack of range. I said it was a pity Ford Europe had not produced ongoing quantity to support continued sales and marketing of passenger vehicles. Closing I noted that I was happy however with the servicing that the dealer provides on my car.

I wonder when Ford Australia will realise that they are losing past customers and the next generation. While utes night be profitable now eventually the opposition will catch up to the ranger and what then. Long term I think they have missed the boat by not emulating Mazda with a good spread of vehicles and I blame Ford of Europe for that and also the Focus/Fiesta DCT fiasco. There i s nothing I could recommend to my daughter at a Ford dealer these days.

I bought my escape titanium because of its 2 litre turbo, conventional torque auto and AWD, because Mrs M wanted an SUV (ease of enty and exit). If I had to buy a new SUV today a CX5 looks a good option. Otherwise in a couple of years I would probably go electric (or hybrid) escape size or smaller in a SUV.

The way I see it, Ford in Australia are not interested in fighting for product, as in getting sufficient volume from overseas factories, no matter which country of origin. Why bother investing in a model that they can't even sell because of volume constraints. And in that I mean investing in product training, marketing, parts supply and inventory, and government certification. That's why Escape bombed, Puma, Endura, Mondeo...........................

The alternative is easy work for Ford, selling ladder frame pickups and SUV's. They have healthy demand and healthy supply from a factory relatively close to Australia. In other words, they don't have to do anything. Frankly, I'm surprised Mustang is still here considering the distraction it is to selling said ladder-frame crap.

Spoke to my manager earlier today funnily enough, and he owned two Territories.
Drives a Land Rover at the moment, but said the Territory was the best vehicle he has ever owned and would have bought another if they were available.

As they weren't, he took his business elsewhere.
I don't think there is an equivalent in the Ford range anymore. Everest is a different beast to the Tezza.

Oh, there is, but Ford don't/won't make it for global consumption. And its not because of a lack of production volume either.

The current Explorer debuted the all-new CD6 rear-wheel-drive platform that was also supposed to merge into an all-new Mustang as well. The CD6 Mustang never happened, so only the Explorer and related Lincoln ended up on CD6, which is really silly to invest so much and not use the platform to its protentional.

What I love about the current Explorer is its short front overhangs and Territory-like rear C-pillar design. It looks poised and well balanced visually. With the north-south engine layout and rear bias, you would expect it to drive better than the ancient D4 platform of the previous front-drive bias models.



But, apparantly no one outside of the US would buy the Explorer. It's also offered with a Hybrid, so it would have been a prime candidate to offer a alternative to the boring Kluga. But again, the Explorer and other desirable Ford's are put in the too hard basket and ignored. Then Ford wonder why their revenue is dropping.

yer Explorer is nice looking large SUV.
I'd really consider a top spec model if here RHD but not to be.
Ford have Nothing to consider for my better half for Everest is too large for her use.
Forget MachE over priced and we are not EV type consumer period.

We bought a sector they have left that is huge sales.
Mid size to smaller SUV.
minheim she has been in a CX5 since '18, been no fuss no prob and served the purpose for the kids now have license's and she wanted to downsize.
Just bought a new CX-30 Astina on the weekend, damn nice I was impressed and she's happy all that counts.

Tell you my eye caught those new inline6 CX70's or whatever digit they are - 5seater.
Damn bang for buck - don't know how good that inline6 is and drivetrain but looks ok.

I'm not interested in Rangers, Everests or Mustangs. Just want something practical for the wife and I.
Next purchase will be a Mazda 6 wagon.

Wow its like someone here has been saying these things on AFF for ages, surprised no one has decided to pipe in here with VFACTS Ranger sales and tell you that you're all actually wrong and you actually do want a ute based vehicle platform

No one is wrong.

Ford just can't be bothered bringing other cars here just because 5 people say they would buy one if they did.

Very few manufacturers are all things to all people.

Mum got an invite to a VIP night too. She dives an LZ Focus Sport, the dealer wants to get her into an Everest. Ford has nowhere for her to go now.
