Default Diesel: Have I Lost a Check Ball?

Approaching reassembly, got a question for the CR diesel experts.

During tear down I assumed the subject banjo fitting had a stepped head and just ratcheted away without really looking. Next thing I had a stop bolt, copper washer and a fine spring about 20mm long in my hand. It came off the end of the actual banjo bolt. Clearly, I wasn’t 100% focused that day.

What I’m wondering is, in this process of misadventure did I lose a check ball or some type of poppet valve? I did not observe anything falling, or see any piece on the ground when I immediately stopped to look.

Been a while since I worked on that style Denso pump but from memory that fitting is a bleed off valve and is sealed from the factory so if the spring is broken or its not holding fuel pressure then its replacement time.

Sorry can't help more but my memory is getting very vague these days.

Thanks - it looks reasonably generic but I hope to work out if it’s lost a check ball or has a flat poppet style valve. Can probably remove the whole bolt and examine carefully. Felt like a right idjit when I did that.
