2024 is a good time to start trying stuff, we are out of the struggle of covid, the world is still turning and you aren't too old to try anything yet.
if you tried, and failed you'd learn something useful from it. try again with this new knowledge.
P.S your "old car" is newer than 5 of My friend's cars and less kms and 20yrs older than My cars. fix the important things first and make a plan for the others. if you can't do some of the work yourself and can't afford it, see if you can help the mechanic in some way to get a discount on repairs, maybe offer to mow his lawns regularly or clean up or something similar.
