Also don't forget that no one is going off backpacking or taking Gap Years, or going off to London to work for 'The Duration'. So not only do you have expats returning in droves, you also have people who would normally have spent up to a few years travelling or working overseas having to stay here for now.
Have just sold my FG2 XR6 for 3K more than what I paid for it 18 months back. Had the usual lowballers & timewasters who wanted something for less than $12K, but unblemished, but the eventual buyer was realistic, and had seen some Dogs....
Sadly it looks like if you want a reasonably priced full-size car that's reliable & cheap to run, then a Camry might be your only option - but even those are still bringing good prices.
Have also heard that it's a 3 week wait to get a car registered a Vic Roads, even for the Country offices where you can normally snag a short-notice appointment.
