Actually, I found that the ground clearance is slightly less in the Triton 205mm to Ranger 237 mm so it is slightly lower. That and the reduced weight would seem to be in the Triton’s favour.
Also the weight difference is only 200kg if you compare Triton to 2.0 diesel Ranger.
A lot of Triton’s handling issue seems to be body roll as it was with Hilux, so maybe stiffer suspension is the key to solving perceived instability.
