Exactly the opposite. This is a highly contagious virus, person to person transmission is very high, and school kids can easily be carriers.
The potential for family to the child to another child and then another family is very high.
China, Japan, Italy, South Korea, many parts of the EU - schools were amongst the first to close!
People want their kids safe in case you hadn't noticed.
