I honestly believe that to quit, you need some sort of a motivation that's "stronger" than the urge to smoke. (health, family ..etc..)

Back then I was about a pack a day smoker and getting lectured about health, money ..etc.. would have never made me quit. It wasn't until that I met my fiancée and seeing her with tears on her face begging me to stop that I finally quit cold turkey.
