390 on a stock engine is damn fine performance.

Go easy on the XR JFK, trust me when I say that at this power level, these cars can bite hard, seriously bite the hand that feed them! It has happened to me, and left me literally shaking from the experience, but no harm done.

Once the novelty of all that torque becomes less (for me, it took about 5000km) the mumbo becomes quite usable in a perfectly 'sociable' kind of way. I discovered after a few months that you simply don't need to row through the gears hard, or spin the engine above 4500rpm to make it go briskly, quicker than pretty much anything else on the road. And if you keep the revs under that level, unwanted, unnecessary attention is avoided, that’s always good policy.
