I had this problem as stated above and this is an electrical problem so don't take your car to a mechanic. Find a good electrician and take it there. Most mechanics will tell you, "it's faulty, get a new one" and that's about the limit of their knowledge. My advice is that failiure is caused by vibration & heat and it is a common problem on all vehicles of this type that used the Mondeo layout.

The ABS modules are virtually impossible to replace and cost about U$1000.00 in the states so if you can get it repaired it is worth it.

If the ABS light is on it means that the ABS is NOT WORKING which will only be an issue in the few seconds you absolutely need it.

I don't know about bleeding the system as this is not my area of expertise.
