Alan, don't worry about it! It does it's job as an indicative reading.
Based on the Excel file, Alan is talking about above, my 07 diesel is getting under 9 l/100km with just under 40K on the clock. That's with the A/C always on and a mixture of city weekdays (20ish km round trip) and country weekends (usually about a 400 km round trip).
